The topic of my project is "Social Networking: better or worse than the real thing?"
The objective of my paper is to explore the existing social network websites and to find out how great their role is for nowadays society. While doing the research I would like to answer the following questions:
- How important social networking is today?
- What is the main purpose of such websites?
- Can social networking eventually replace real social interaction?
- Is social networking better or worse than the real thing?
In order to answer the above listed questions I will choose one of the most popular network websites, for example, Facebook, and do a research on how it is used and what it provides to the Internet users.
I would also like to look at all the advantages and disadvantages of the social network.

Hello Marina, first of all, thank you for your comment. You mentioned very important points. In my opinion, social networking has become a culture of this society, and made our lives more convenient, easy, and fun. It might be possible that social networking can eventually replace real social interaction, but then our society will look miserable because real social interaction is an important part of human nature in order to survive in society. Doing everything eletronically will lead people become lonely and cold, and difficult to meet someone who have deep connection with them.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you. The problem of social networking has two sides; a positive and a negative one. The fact that it helps small businesses to promote their products for no cost, for example Facebook, encourages many entrepreneurs to introduce their ideas to the others. Many teenagers make more friends online than in reality but that virtual friendship makes those kids keep to themselves even more. It makes it even harder form many people to communicate with the society around them.

ReplyDeleteI think this is a very interesting topic, but also very hard to prove. I am curious to see how you are going to measure "better or worse." Some people are able to express themselves better through social media vs. real life (social skills.) I think that those of us who will achieve real success in this generation have to be good at both. Of course this is all relative.
ReplyDeleteI do agree when you say that in order to succeed we have to be good at both and social networks do help us to develop communication skills but unfortunately virtually. People with weak communication skills don not better them spending their spare time in front of the computer. It is very hard to find a good job without communication skills or, if you have one already, it is very hard to go up the corporate ladder because social skills always come first.
